Twilight Zone Variety Show

The Twilight Zone Variety Show took place on Friday, October 17th at the Chthonic Theater in Oakland. We were so impressed by all of the performances. Thank you so much to all of the performers, helpers and enthusiastic audience members! Below is info on the performers in show order.

The next show is December 19th so MARK YOUR CALENDAR!

Set 1

Pa (Ramsey Tietjen)419012_343916752318873_294145147_n

Pa kicked off the variety show with a couple of his poignantly heartfelt tunes, laying a solid foundation for the rest of the performers to follow. While Pa does not have any recorded albums out in the world, he has an incredible catalogue of original music dating back to before the birth of his daughters (T Sisters). With enough audience pressure, he will eventually record these tunes.  In the meantime, you can catch him as a regular performer at the variety show!

Your hostesses! We have been producing this variety show for about 5 years now and we are thrilled to see how much it has evolved. It is an honor to have such talent performing on our little stage and feel our musical/performing arts family grow.

We’ve got shows and tours coming up so check all that and our recorded music out HERE!

Emily Zisman:

This was Emily’s second variety show performance and we were so happy to have her back! Emily’s smart and endearing performance, inspired songwriting and beautiful vocals are a joy to behold.

Emily has got a brand new album and you can pre-order it HERE!

Miriam Speyer:

Miriam killed it in her first variety show appearance. Her sultry, soulful vocals and subtle jazz guitar playing had us all in a trance.

Miriam is working on making an album and needs our help! In her own words, “Bringing this new collection of recordings to life and feeling the support of my community in this endeavor would just melt my heart with joy.” Find out more HERE!

Melted State:1553204_749612961716532_518786430_o

Melted State made their variety show debut and had the audience grooving along with what they describe as their “Soul/Rock/Roots” sound. The band hails from the South Bay and are on their way up so catch them while you can!

Have a listen HERE and you’ll know what we’re talking about 🙂

Set 2

Andrew Blair: 10348753_10152986373264045_3657725692064154766_o

Andrew, singer/songwriter/guitarist for Bay Area based group We Became Owls, performed a captivating and heart-melting solo set at the variety show (and Miriam Speyer sat in for a tune!).

We Became Owls has just released a fantastic EP which you can check out HERE!

Ben Morrison: 1512060_274864369342343_5009268993733589174_o

Ben, singer/songwriter/guitarist for Americana/folk/bluegrass band the Brothers Comatose, drew in the crowd with his soulful twang. It was such a treat to hear a stripped down version of one of the band’s popular tunes. He also brought Erika (T Sisters) up for a sweet duet by the band Cake.

T Sisters and the Brothers Comatose will be playing a show together in November at the Chapel, SF. Get your tickets HERE while they last!

Emily Heller
Conan, Episode 0391, March 26, 2013 Meghan Sinclair/Conaco, LLC for TBS

It’s been a couple years since we’ve had Emily at the variety show since she relocated to pursue her career in comedy. We are so delighted that she’s had such success in the comedy world and we were so excited when we found out her tour to the Bay Area coincided with the variety show. Somehow we lured her back to the Chthonic Theater and she did not disappoint!

She has been named a ‘Comic to Watch’ by both Variety and Comedy Central so…watch out for her!

Boysenberry Cupcake-Wow cupcake

Boysenberry Cupcake wowed us all again with a titillating and hilarious zombie-themed burlesque number. Her unique performances can be seen around the Bay Area.

Follow her on facebook HERE and see what’s happening in the local burlesque scene.

Kendra McKinleykendra

Kendra, another variety show virgin, blew us all alway with her vocal looping. She shared her arrangement of a classic Irving Berlin tune as well as one of her original tunes. The audience was transfixed and transported as she layered multiple harmonies and overlaid them with spot-on melodies and vocal solos.

You can find out more about Kendra and her upcoming shows HERE!
