Bring Us Back is the T Sisters’ first set of studio recordings. We learned so much in this process and had the privilege of working with some amazing folks, including virtuosic mandolinist Mike Marshall as co-producer; fabulous engineer Dave Luke; terrific bassist Todd Phillips; and our very own father, talented musician Ramsey Tietjen.

      Wind and Rain

      Traditional

There were two sisters of county Clare,
      Oh, the wind and rain
One was dark and the other was fair,
Oh, the dreadful wind and rain
And they both had a love for the miller's son,
      Oh, the wind and rain
But he was fond of the fairer one,
Oh, the dreadful wind and rain
So she pushed her into the river to drown
      oh, the wind and rain
and watched her as she floated down
oh, the dreadful wind and rain
and she floated till she came to the millers pond
oh, the wind and the rain
dead on the water like a golden swan
oh, the dreadful wind and rain
and along the road came a fiddler fair
and found saw bones just a lying there,
so he strung his fiddle bow with her long yeller hair
and he made a fiddle peg of her long finger bone
and he made a fiddle fiddle of her breast bone
      oh, the wind and rain
but the only tune that the fiddle could play was
      oh, the wind and rain

      Lopsided Lullaby

      C. Tietjen

Come listen little sister with your skelter all awry
To a twisted little ditty called the lopside lullabye
You’ll be flopped before you know it with your bottom in the air
but too tryptophaned and just too high to care

Slip sideways into sleep, let the shepherd count the sheep
      You’ll be dizzy as a dervish by-and-by
Let the morning fix the leak, hear the crooked lady speak
      of the lopsided lullabye

Up is down and down is sideways in your tipsy-topsy dreams
But you know your way around, you’re the mayor of the town
You’re the queen of the disaster, you’re the master on the scene
And you’re walking tall ten feet above the ground

Slip sideways into sleep, let the shepherd count the sheep
      You’ll be dizzy as a dervish by-and-by
Let the morning fix the leak, hear the crooked lady speak
      of the lopsided lullabye

Oh the lopside lullabye it’ll make you lose your mind
But it’s nothing you can’t find the following day
Oh the lopside lullabye, take your rest among the rhymes
And remember all the times you heard me say
Let the morning fix the leak, hear the crooked lady speak
      of the lopsided lullabye

When I rock you fast asleep you’ll be tapping both your feet
And the world’s our swimming pool, you’re the joker and I’m the fool
We’ll slide sideways down the by-ways you go your way and I’ll go mine
We’ll be making up exceptions to the rules

  • I'm Done

    • Lyrics

      I'm Done

      R. Tietjen

      I'm stumped
      Don't know what to Do
My broken heart has betrayed me
      And so have you

I knew at the start that I couldn't stand to lose you
And I couldn't stand to lose you so I held on

But the ride was to long and it only made me dizy
While you were to busy to notice when you were your own

      'Cause I'm done it's over
      I'm done it's over
      Oh I'm done it's over
      I'm done it's over

You were lookin at me but your eyes were off in the distance
      If I'd left that instant
Would you know I was gone?
When I called out your name you didn't seem to hear
When my echo reaches your ear
      You'll be all alone

      'Cause I'm done it's over
      I'm done it's over
      Oh I'm done it's over
      I'm done it's over

If you thought I'd stay then you were wrong
'Cause I've seen the last time
      And I'm moving on

Oooohh oh oh I'm done it's over
      Oh I'm done it's over
      I'm done it's over
      I'm done it's over

      Shouldda seen it comin'
Now the end is finally here
I will wipe off these tears
      And I'm gonna be strong

      Gonna leave
      Gonna go
But I want you to know
      Ohhhh

      That I'm done it's over
      Oh I'm done it's over
      I'm done it's over
      I'm done it's over

  • Get to Know You

    • Lyrics

      Get to Know You

      E. Tietjen

When I first saw you I didn't see
But now standing closer it feels so right to me
A fantasy's building in front of my eyes
      But I'm tongue-tied

And I'd like to get to you know but baby I'm shy
And I don't know how to go about it
But intimate to me that you like what you see
And I'll whisper, or shout it

I see your glance shifting and quickly look away
Although I am yearning to return your gaze
I fear that my blush gives these feelings away
So not a word do I say

And I'd like to get to you know but baby I'm shy
But I don't know how to go about it
But intimate to me that you like what you see
And I'll whisper, or shout it

      In my happy little daydream
I get my wish and so much more
But then I wake to find, it's all inside my mind
I'm simply standing staring at the floor

This silence affords me a view of the ground
Where bottles are broken and heartaches are drowned
I look up and you're nearer, I'm feeling weak
Now is my chance to speak

Well I'd like to get to you know if you're so inclined
But I don't know how to go about it
Intimate to me that you like what you see
      Well how bout it?

  • Bring Us Back

    • Lyrics

      Bring Us Back

      C. Tietjen

      Mother of all
      Huddle over us
      We are a bundle
      Confused and disgruntled

      Tell us of our moment
      How it limps and sighs
      Bring us back our eyes

      Sing us from what’s holy
      We hear it whisper
      Bring us back our story

      Untangle fingers from our hair
      We’re tied and tired
      Bring us back our prayer

We can’t know what comes after
      If you can’t tell us
Then bring us back, then bring us back,
then bring us back our laughter
